Would you believe me if I told you that we were designed to feel good? My amazing coach told me that the other day, and I kind of gagged when he said it, but then I realized that he was right.
Let me tell you first why I gagged. My training for my whole life immediately jumped up and said, “Whatever! Does it feel good to wake up 4 times a night with your child who can’t sleep? No! But you do it anyway because it’s the right thing to do!”
Then my mind quieted down, and it dawned on me. Actually, at the deepest level, it absolutely does feel good to wake up that many times with my baby. My thoughts and my body might scream something different, but deep down, it absolutely feels good to take care of my baby, and I couldn’t do anything else.
You see, our hearts are always guiding us in the moment toward what is good and to what therefore feels good. How could it be any other way since we are connected to the ultimate source of love and peace who created and maintains the universe? Our little minds, however, are not wise enough to understand this.
But you know what’s really incredible about our design? When we forget who we are and start listening to our heads, we feel like shit! And the more we do it, the shittier we feel!
That’s why whenever you are feeling dis-ease, you can know with absolute certainty that it’s time to fall out of your thinking. You don’t have to make it stop or avoid it. You just need to stop investing your interest in it.
